Glass Workshop with Jiyong Lee

- 17th - 21st September 2012
- 10am - 5pm (5 day workshop)
- €250

Lunch includedEntry requirements: Experience of working with glass necessary
This workshop explores techniques and methods around art making with glass employed by Jiyong Lee. The deceptive simplicity and understated intricacy of Lee’s compositions is striking, with his refined translucent laminated glass surface suggests the mysterious qualities of cells and the ambiguity of temporal existence. Jiyong Lee will explore with the class how the surface and their properties can be mobilised to achieve apparent simplicity yet employing high complexity.
Korean born Jiyong Lee is Head of the Glass program of Southern Illinois University Carbondale since 2005. He graduated from the MFA program at Rochester Institute of Technology in US, 2000. Having his feet in both cultures also has broadened his personal aesthetics and appreciation for different ways of thinking. He specializes in cold-working and kiln-forming processes and he has exhibited nationally and internationally. He lectures and gives demonstrations widely, including the 2007 Glass Art Society Conference, Rochester Institute of Technology, the Studio of the Corning Museum of Glass, Cleveland Institute of Art, Penland School of Crafts, Pilchuck Glass School, Pittsburgh Glass Center, and Kook-Min University, Seoul, Korea.
As soon as the dates for this workshop in September 2012 are finalised the booking form will be posted here.
