Resource Centre

The Fire Station Resource Centre gives artists living and working here access to creative software, the internet, digital equipment, our meeting room with projector, books and magazines. It is the heart of the Fire Station; a shared area where artists can meet away from their studios or the workshop.

There is a part time Resource Centre manager to support artists while they work.

The two iMacs have the following software and hardware:

  • Wacom Tablets
  • 1 X Nikon LS 5000 Film and Slide scanner
  • Epson Flatbed scanner


The Editing Suite has the following software and hardware:

  • 8 Core Mac Pro
  • Final Cut Studio 2
  • 2TB CalDigit Raid Storage
  • 16GB Ram
  • BlackMagic Intensity High-Def monitoring card with 19inch Samsung 720P Video Monitor.
  • 23inch Samsung Monitor


Artists can also make use of the following digital equipment for a minimal charge and our meeting room with its own projector:

We offer WiFi access in the Resource Centre.

The Resource Centre is also a good place to catch up with magazines such as Art Monthly, Frieze, Artforum International and VAN and consult our collection of books on contemporary art and criticism.

The Resource Centre is open plan so you will be sharing space with other artists. Fire Station staff can ensure that all artists have enough scheduled time and access to available equipment.

We run regular digital media courses.
