FSAS announces Mieke Vanmechelen as  2021 short-term residency awardee

FSAS is delighted to announces Mieke Vanmechelen as the artist selected for our short-term Residential Studio Award for the period mid- April to mid- August 2021. 

Mieke Vanmechelen
 makes films grounded in place, informed by intimate knowledge and lived experience. Her work explores the idea of organic interdependence of the individual human body with the community of human and non-human life around it. Recent screenings include: Home from Home, Glucksman Gallery, Cork (2020); Open Submission, Highlanes GalleryDrogheda (2020); CutLog Moving ImageSSA+VAS OPEN, Scottish Royal Academy, Edinburgh (2020); RAGFF New York (2020). Recent awards include: FSAS Digital Media Bursary (2021); Kerry Filmmaker in Residence (2021); Arts Council Film Bursary (2020); Arts Council Professional Development Award (2020); Kerry County Council Creative Work Development Bursary (2020).
Fire Station Artists’ Studios offers city centre, subsidised, live/work, residential studios for professional visual artists. Our subsidised rents includes utilities, waste disposal, parking, internet access, and site security. Residents are can also avail of negotiated rates in the Digital Media and Sculpture workshops, as well as professional support from our team. Meet the artists currently in residence at FSAS here.
