Cabbages and Concrete
Natascha Fischell, 2002 - 2003
Natascha Fischell was the winner of the first Fire Station Artist in the community Studio Award in 2002.
During her residency Natascha worked with seven youth and community projects in the North East Inner City, comprising of over sixty people of a variety of ages and backgrounds. Each participant took part in three days of painting in the open air, with workshops talking place in Ireland’s Eye, Howth , Sutton, Killiney and Wicklow. These workshops resulted in a large scale outdoor installation of thirty one landscape paintings sited the local area.
With the intention of adding some colour and restoring a sense of harmony and beauty in the area, 31 of the artworks were enlarged onto corriboard and mounted on selected walls around the north east inner city. A selection of this work remains today at various outdoor sites in the local area.
