Web Art: Reading Beehtoven, Location, PlayForum

A Disability Web Art Project by Amanda Coogan, Corban Walker and Peter Kearns.

These works are the result of a process of discussion we undertook three years ago on the nature of arts and disability. We were conscious that "disability" is a complex term, that much work and campaigning is being done by many to address meaningful access and participation, and that therefore the place to begin our discussion was at the personal level, as people involved in the area of arts and disability.

This meant that the very real issues of accessible buildings and galleries, access to arts training, access to studios, and so on were complimentary to the most important access issue for artists, which is to be artists.

This project is art about the experience of disability.

"We hope that the works make a contribution to the European Year of People with Disabilities, on the basis that art reveals the soul, and the soul requires a different architecture." Tony Sheehan
