Apply for a Studio
The Fire Station Artists’ Studios offer living and working spaces for visual artists, as well as workshop and computer facilities.
Open call for applications for three residencies commencing in 2013.
Two residencies will be offered from June 2013, and one from December 2013.
The studios are let from a period of between one year and two years nine months. International artists may apply for shorter periods. Resident artists have free access to high end computers, software, WiFi, technical expertise & support and also subsidised access to digital equipment. This is a competitive selection process.

Apply for a studio by sending us:
- A covering letter
- A current CV and documentation of your work
A selection committee then reviews your application and makes recommendations to our board. The selection committee bases its decision solely on what you provide.
The Covering Letter
Tell us, in detail, how you hope to use the studio, e.g. to work on a commission, to prepare for an exhibition. Tell us why you need residential space specifically.
Include a work plan, giving details of what materials and processes you use and any other requirements you have, such as wheelchair access. This will help us provide you with the most suitable space.
Tell us for how long you will need your studio. We let out studios for between six months and two years, nine months. International artists tend to stay for between one and six months. If you need a studio for more than one year, we will review your progress after your first year.
The CV and Documentation
Send us an up-to-date CV with documentation (hard-copy only) and any of the following:
- Up to six still images (photographs, laser prints, CD Rom),
- Up to six minutes of DVD – you must cue a pre selected piece.
- Catalogues or books.
Do not send us original artworks or master copies of videos.
