Dr Linzi Stauvers

2022

Dr Linzi Stauvers is Head of Learning at Ikon Gallery where she is responsible for outreach programmes, including Slow Boat, Art at HMP Grendon and The Migrant Festival. For Ikon’s digital programme, she has commissioned videos, by Lindsay Seers, Haroon Mirza and Keith Piper, that respond to social, political and spiritual crises. Stauvers is Acting Chair of Pavilion where she worked between 2011-16, managing off-site projects with Lucy Skaer, Ruth E. Lyons and Harold Offeh.

This talk excavates three common sites of art historical knowledge: the twentieth century prison, the nineteenth century school and the eighteenth century park. It proposes different ways of engaging communities, from researching radical histories to experimenting with arts and crafts techniques, in a way that leads to the commissioning of new work.
