Marie Phelan

2023

Marie Phelan is a multidisciplinary artist whose work is informed by place that hold memories through ritual and belief. Her research in cultural histories, archaeologies, and mythologies is extended through temporary site explorations and studio-based actions. Using audio, video, drawing and installation she constructs an often-imagined world to explore the positioning of heritage and identity within contemporary values. Most recently she carried out a short residency at PS2, Belfast 2022; exhibited at 126 Gallery & Studios, Galway 2023; and The Lab Gallery, Dublin 2020. Recent Awards include an Arts Council Agility Award 2021/2022 and a Carlow Arts Act Grant 2021/2022.
