Masterclass on Colour in Cinematography with Stefan Ciupek

We are delighted to invite visual artists working with the moving image to apply for a space in the upcoming Masterclass on Colour in Cinematography with Stefan Ciupek. This new course for visual artists working with moving image is a unique opportunity to develop your practice and learn first-hand from a leading cinematographer.

With extensive experience in colour and look development in cinematography and post-production for both the film industry and the visual arts, Stefan Ciupek has been at the forefront of digital cinematography on films such as Alexander Sokurov’s epic one-shot opus Russian Ark, Lars von Trier’s Antichrist, or Danny Boyle’s Slumdog Millionaire and 127 Hours. His contribution as digital cinematography supervisor, 2nd Unit DOP and film colourist on these projects, as well as his association with acclaimed filmmakers, laid the foundations for Stefan’s own cinematic vision.

In 2020, his documentary “Babenco, Tell me when I Die”, won in Venice and was Brazil’s official submission for 2 Oscars. He recently completed the Maddin-Johnson-Johnson political satire Rumours starring Cate Blanchett and Alicia Vikander, currently on festival tour from Cannes to TIFF, and is joining Danny Boyle and Anthony Dod Mantle for 28 Years Later.

With renowned artists Omer Fast and Eder Santos he has created cinematic experiences, which screened at venues like Locarno Film Festival, MoMA, the Louvre and the Centre Pompidou in Paris, and Martin Gropius Bau in Berlin.
Stefan also conducts cinematography masterclasses and workshops for the Berlinale Talent Campus, the European Film Academy, NYU, and various film schools across the world.
