FSAS Film Club 2023/2024
2023

The FSAS Film Club is a workshop series for children and young people from Dublin 1. The participants learn about filming techniques and discover how to use professional filming equipment. The first iteration of the Film Club took place in collaboration with City Connects in 2022/2023. It resulted in a short film realised by local 6th class students, screened in the Light House Cinema, and in the LAB as part of Cruinniú na nÓg.
The 2023/2024 Film Club has expanded its partnership to the Belvedere Youth Club (BYC), broadening the reach of the programme to young people, in addition to the new group of children that will be involved through City Connects.
For the first workshop series, the BYC participants worked on making a documentary about their football experience screened in the Light House Cinema in early February 2024. The second workshop series has just started with children of 5th and 6th class from 8 local schools, in collaboration with City Connects.
The FSAS Film Club is a project led by Fire Station Artists’ Studios in collaboration with City Connects and the Belvedere Youth Club, and funded by the NEIC. The first iteration of the FSAS Film Club was run by John Conway and assisted by Ala Buisir. The second workshop series was run by Michelle Hall and assisted by Ailbhe O’Connor. The third workshop series is run by Michelle Hall and assisted by Megan Scott.
