Awards

Each year, FSAS provides artists and graduates from our academic partners with time, space, facilities and in-house professional support. We also include an allowance to help them experiment and test in their practice.

FSAS offers two non-residential digital media awards annually: the Practice Awards and the Graduate Awards. They provide emerging and established artists with fully subsidised time and access to our Digital Media equipment and workspaces to develop, and experiment with, their practice. As part of the awards, support and guidance are provided by our digital media manager, curatorial and administrative teams. The awards aim to support artistic practice to produce, develop and experiment by providing access to professional resources and facilities.

By receiving the Practice Award from Fire Station Artists’ Studios I have been able to develop my practice through new mediums. Throughout my 3-month residency I received valuable support from Helena Gouveia Monteiro who shared her extensive knowledge with me on various cameras, editing software and 3D scanning technology.
This support and access were vital to the expansion of my practice into online spaces. I received a Platform Commission for the EVA Biennial in 2025, the support I received from FSAS was fundamental to that application process. The studio visits with Julia Moustacchi provided me with valuable feedback and contextual references for my work.
This award has given me the confidence to use new animation, scanning and editing software as well as a professional understanding of digital film cameras.’
