It is with enormous pride that a fully funded residency, with a monthly stipend, for 6 months is offered, thanks to the generosity of Irish patrons of the Arts, the late Sean and Rosemarie Mulcahy, the first in a three-year commitment to this residency award. This award marks the 30th anniversary of FSAS as a key studio provider in Ireland’s artistic ecology.
FSAS has a strong commitment to community engagement and is proud of its Dublin 1 heritage and neighbourhood. This commitment is emphasised by this first Sean & Rosemarie Mulcahy Award focussing on Socially Engaged practice.
Deadline for application: Friday 14 July 2023 5pm
This residency entails:
- 1 Residency for 6 months (Studio 6, from September 2023)
- All bills will be covered including rent
- A monthly stipend of €500
Applicants must be full time practising artists with a socially engaged practice, with projects and exhibition profiles. A Socially engaged practice is understood to mean an artist whose work entails collaborative and participatory projects that engage with communities. A developed practice and methodology in this must be demonstrated in applications, outlining projects that have clear and sustained engagement or intention to embed enquiries in communities.
This is a highly competitive selection process through panel selection, comprised of FSAS representatives, external curator and an independent artist.
Eligibility:
- Artists undertaking an MA or a PhD (full time or part time) are not eligible to apply.
- International artists with a demonstrable connection to Ireland are welcome to apply
- Artists who have been awarded a residency at FSAS are eligible to apply
