Event: International Curator Talk with Nam Huh on Wednesday, 5 February at 5pm

28 January, 2025

Join us as we hear from curator Nam Huh who joins us at FSAS as the first visiting curator in 2025 as part of our International Curator Residency programme.

In her talk, Nam Huh will explore the evolving narratives of the marginalised and identity in various societies through the lens of contemporary media. With a practice rooted in themes of decolonisation and minority representation, Nam will examine the intersections of art, technology, and society. This talk will highlight key moments in her curatorial career, from international exhibitions to recent research into East and Southeast Asian (ESEA) migrant representation in VR and interactive documentaries. Drawing on projects like Give-away District: Neverland (Seoul, 2024), Some Facts at Midnight (Seoul, 2023), and Body Snatcher (Leeds, 2022), Nam will discuss how innovative formats and cross-cultural collaborations foster new understandings of identity and belonging.

Nam Huh is a curator and researcher based between Northern England and Seoul. Her work focuses on themes of migration, decolonisation, and minority representation, using innovative media formats to reframe narratives of social issues. Nam worked with Seoul Museum of Art, Seoul Photo Festival, Liverpool BIennial, The Royal Standard(Liverpool), Leeds Queer Film Festival, and Sheffield DocFest, along with a few independent projects funded from Arts Council Korea, Seoul Foundations of Arts and Culture and Metropolitan Council of Seoul. She’s now a PhD candidate at Loughborough University, working with Site Gallery(Sheffield) and Fringe Arts Bath 2025.
