FSAS Summer Studio 2024 Participants Announced

Fire Station Artists’ Studios is delighted to present guest contributors who will collaborate with Independent Curator Siobhán Forshaw on the Summer Studio 2024, Taking Care: Siobhán Geoghegan, Jacob V Joyce and Liam Oragh.

  • Common Ground Director, Siobhán Geoghegan will explore and discuss labours of love, care and solidarity, looking at how Common Ground’s practice has evolved within local community frameworks, and how the organisation considers ‘care’ in its approach and practice. 
  • UK-based multidisciplinary artist, Jacob V Joyce will invite participants to map and share strategies for resisting alienation in their work and in their personal practices of care.
  • Sound Therapist Liam Oragh will facilitate a sound bath session, a sound meditation enabling deep relaxation and emotional release, transporting the participants to the heart of a vibrant soundscape where body, mind and soul can relax, rejoice and heal. 

Siobhán Geoghegan is the full-time Director of Common Ground. She was employed in 1999 to set it up along with other local activists. Siobhán was born and reared in London. She moved to Ireland in 1980 and was educated at Limerick School of Art & Design, Crawford College of Art, UCD H. Dip Arts Admin. In 2011 she completed an MA in Art in the Contemporary World NCAD. Siobhán has been living in Rialto, Dublin 8 since 2000.

Jacob V Joyce is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice amplifies historical and nourishes new queer and anti-colonial narratives. Their work is continually grounded by collaborations and conversations with activists, community groups and archives. Joyce has self-published several graphic novels and zines, illustrated international human rights campaigns for Out Proud African LGBTI, Amnesty International, Global Justice Now and had their comics published in national newspapers. TFL Arts Grant awardee and former artist in residence at Gasworks, Serpentine, The Museum of Homelessness, Nottingham Contemporary and Tate Galleries Education department.

Liam Oragh is an experienced Sound Therapist/Sound Healer, Retreat Leader and award-winning Singer-Songwriter and Recording Artist who has developed a deep passion for Sound Healing. He regularly hosts and performs Sound Healing/Therapy Sessions/Soundbaths, Retreats, Meditations, Yoga Studio and Corporate Wellness Workshops and Events throughout Dublin, Leinster and Ireland both indoors and outdoors, with his Soundbath most recently added to the bill at The Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA) in The Royal Hospital Kilmainham as part of their Outdoor Evening Events Summer programmes 2021 and 2022; he also co-hosted a Soundhealing and Songwriting workshop as part of First Fortnight – Ireland’s Mental Health in the Arts Festival 2022 – and made his debut at Electric Picnic 2023.
