International Curator Talk with Cale Garrido, Tuesday 16 April at 5pm
5 April, 2024

Join us as we hear from curator Cale Garrido who joins us at FSAS as part of the International Curator Residency programme.
Working on exhibitions and publications, Cale Garrido’s main interest lies in addressing social and ecological issues. This talk will be an introduction to her curatorial practice throughout her most recent project: Women’s Workshop. Published by Kaunas Photography Gallery in 2023, this artists’ book is meant to contribute to a broader conversation about gender and labor. Turning their gaze to mothers, saleswomen, nurses, sex workers, fieldworkers, taxi drivers, researchers, or themselves, the six lens-based artists and accompanying authors reflect on performative, immersive, and participatory artistic approaches.
Cale Garrido is a Spanish independent author, curator, and photo editor with a focus on contemporary photography. Based in Hamburg, she collaborates internationally with artists, collectives, art institutions, festivals, and galleries. She was a curatorial team member at the 8th Triennial of Photography Hamburg in 2022 and the RAW Photo Triennale Worpswede in 2023. She is a guest lecturer at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Hanover and the Ostkreuzschule für Fotografie in Berlin.
