Open Call: Evolve Practice Awards 2025 – Sculpture & Digital Media

This award is dedicated to professional visual artists who want to expand their practice by testing new materials and techniques. The award provides 12 weeks of free access to facilities and equipment in FSAS and a €600 stipend. The award is design to provide time for the awardee to develop and push their practice in a new direction.

There are 2 Evolve Practice Awards available: Sculpture and Digital Media. Please be specific with regard to which discipline you are applying to, Digital Media or Sculpture.

The awardees will receive technical advice and guidance from the Workshop/Studio manager in relevant discipline as well as curatorial support from the Programme and Outreach Manager. The overall value of the award is €2,570 (€800 in-kind equipment and space rental + €1,170 in-kind staff time + €600 stipend).

Overview

  • Work space available over 12 consecutive weeks between March and July 2025
  •  €600 stipend
  • Technical support up to 3 hours per week
  • 2 x Studio visits

Who Should Apply

  • Professional visual artists (minimum of 3 years after graduating)
  • Artists who want to experiment with the particular resources and equipment available at FSAS

An awareness of our facilities, resources, and artistic programme is recommended when making an application.

  • A project plan (tell us how you plan to use the residency with as much detail as possible)
  • An Artist Statement/Biography
  • A CV (1 page)
  • Documentation of work in a PDF file (4-5 high-res images + audio/visual links if relevant). All works need to be captioned.

Applications will be assessed on the following criteria:

  • Professional practicing visual artist
  • Quality of work
  • Openness and interest in experimenting and pushing your practice
  • Quality of proposal
  • Clarity of project plan
  • Expressed and perceived need for the award
  • Willingness to engage with the FSAS Community
